Friday 27.03.09

We started the day by going to Giant bicykle Factory, which was founded in 1972. It has 10 % of the global market share in making bicykles, and are avilable in more tan 50 countries.
We then went to Taichung Horbour and Lighthouse, and walked around the area and also saw the local tempel.
We then made a stop a Taichung County Seaport Center, and saw some of the different artwork.
In the late afternoon we went by Tungs' Taichung Metro Harbour Hospital, to get a tour around the private hospital.
In the evening we attended a Rotary meeting, where 8 clubs were represented, and we gave the last presentation.

Thursday 26.03.09

Today we went to the very famous factory Asia Optical, which amoung other things makes camera lenses. The factory was founded in1981, and about 10.000 people work there.
After lunch we made a short stop at Fu-Ping Hospital, to have a look around.
We then went to Fengyuan Lacquerware, where we all made this beautiful stone in a lot of colors.
Afterwards we went to Government of Fong Yan, and in the art and culture center, we made flowers from string. A very creative day.
In the evening we gave a presentation af a Rotary club.

Wednesday 25.03.09

We started the day by going to Tea Moundtain field. It was an amazing trip, and we walked around the tea field. The view was amazing.
We then went to San Yi Wood Sculpture museum, where we walked around and saw the amazing sculpture - all made in wood.
In the late afternoon we went to Grundfos Taiwan, where we talked to the Danish EXPAT Poul Henrik Jespersen, who work there and has been there for 2 years now. He talked about his experience reguarding being a EXPAT in a foreign country, and we also got a tour around Grundfos.

Thuesday 24.03.09

We started the day by going to Teng Yung Elderly care center, and saw how they take care of their elders.
We then went to Haka Village, which is a cultural village, with a lot of interesting historical items. We ended the day at Shih-Gang resevior, where we first saw the new dam, and then saw the old one, which were destroyed by the big earthquake in 1999.

Monday 23.03.09

Today it's Ingrida's birthday.
We started the day by going to Houli Horse Farm and Bike in Houfeng, where we rented some bikes, and drove around the country side for a couple of hours.
Afterwards we made a short stop a a sugermill, and got a tour. We also went by Saxplay House in Houli, where Egis tried to play the saxophone...
In the evening we attended meeting in RC of Shenkang Taichung Taiwan, where we gave a presentation.

Sunday 22.03.09

Today Egis and Heidi went to breakfast oarty with Paul Harris. We also paticipated in the District Conference, and this day were had to give a small speech about ourselves on stage... In chinese...... It wen't very well, and people understood everything. A very nice experience ;-)
In the evening - after the conference - some of us went to the nightmarket, to eat and buy a lot of things.

Saturday 21.03.09

Today we attended the District Conference, where aprox. 3000 Rotarian paticipated.
We heard a lot of speaches, and also walked around the beautiful university.
Egis and Heine went to play golf at 6.00 am. in Wu Fong Golf Course, with a lot of other rotarians.

Friday 20.03.09

Today we went to Central Taiwan Science Park (CTSP), to see the industrialisation of Taichung.
It was founded 6 years ago, and is about 3659,2 ac big, with a total of 92 companies.
Our second stop was at Supertec, which makes Precision Grinding Machines, and we got a tour around the factory.
We had lunch a Pear Cafe - very nice place.
We then went to Taiwan Tobacco and Liqour Corporation - Wurih Brewery, where we saw how the make the famous Taiwan Beer, and got to taste it ;-)
In the afternoon we went to the Jade Market, to buy souvenirs.

Thursday 19.03.09

Today we went to Taichung Babies Home, which is a welfare organisation, that takes care of orphans, abused and disabled children. A very interessting place, where they doo such good work.
At noon we gave a presentation in Rotaryclub Taichung Tatong, and after that we went to get a foot massage.
In the afternoon we met the mayor of Taichung at the City Government, and afterwards we went by Tim's studio, to see where he works.
Today Heine visited 2 banks.
We also got new families today.

Wedneday 18.03.09

Today we started the day at Tzu Chi Tanzih Sone Hospital, which is a buddhism hospital. It was a very good place, and we got a tour around the hospital.
After lunch we went to the National Taiwam Museum of Fine Arts, where we walked around and looked at the very nice pictures and sculptures.
We then had a lesson in Tai Chi from Rotarymember Green.

Thuesday 17.03.09

Today we had vocational day, and we visited the realastate company Crystal House. We saw a few of their best apartments with pool, gym etc.
After lunch we went to Kewon Architecture, where we saw a house, and met the architect.
We then went to Chumken Realty, which was founded in 1993.
We made a short stop at Steve's company - Ferro-Carbon-Tile Caraft.

Monday 16.03.09

Today we went to Taipei.
We started with a tour around the National Palace Museum, and then we went toTaipei Zoo, where we saw the Pandas and Koalas.
After that we went to se 101 - the highest building in Taiwan and perhaps the whole world..??
We went to the 91. floor, where we had the best view over the capital.
On the way home we made a quick stop at the National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall.

Sunday 15.03.09

At 9.15 we went to Lauren's (GSE member from Taiwan, who went to Denmark and Lituania) house, were they have founded a non-government organisation, who delivers food to the elderly in the area. They founded the organisation after the big earthquake in sept. 1999. To earn some money they also have a tea farm.
In the afternoon some of us, went to rent a bicycle, and drove around the area.

Saturday 14.03.09

In the morning we visit museum of Ming Tai Hogh School and Lin's garden at Wufong. In the highschool there are 4400 students, so it is a big school.
Then we went to a Rotary Meeting ing Wufong, where a total of 7 Rotary clubs had gathered to hear our short presentation.
After the presentation we went to a teahouse to chat and drink some good tea.
We then went to Jiji at Today's resort, where we met with D-3460 Outbound teams, and had a buffet party. We are going to stay at the resort, for the next 2 nights, before we move on to the firth family.

Friday 13.03.09

In the morning we started to visit the National Taiwan Crafts Museum, where they did many different things with glas, bamboo, metal and many other materials.
We then went to the historian Museum, where we got a guided tour arund, and saw the different items.
Afterwards we went to Taiwan Historica Museum, where we also got a guided tour around, and saw amoung other things old furniture.

Thursday 12.03.09

Today was the last day in the third family. We are now in Nantou County, where we are going to spend the next 3 days.
We started the day by going to Sun Moon Lake. A very beautiful lake, where we took a boattrip around the lake. It was an amazing experience.
Afterwards we went to Tai Chan Monastery, where we saw the huge monastery, and got at guided tour around. They have so mony Buddha statues, and it was so amazing to experience that.
Afterwards we went to Big Buddha Mountain, where we saw the biggest Buddha, which is made of gold.

Wednesday 11/03/2009

Today we went to Da Der Technical and Commercial School. It has 7700 students, and is one of the biggest schools in Taiwan.
The student preformed a Dragon and Lion Dance for us, which they have won a championship with.
After lunch we went to Tung Tso Ink Slab Art museum, and saw different kund of inkslabs.
Afterward we went to Songboling Recreational Area, where we were so lucky to see a lot of monkeys.
Then we saw a tea farm, where the produce tea.
We had dinner at the Moonlight Rail Restaurant.

Tuesday 10/03/2009

Today we went to Chungwa Jail. A very interessting experience. We saw the small cells, and some of the prisoners performed music for us.
After lunch we went to Da-Yeh university, where we got a tour around the campus, and then we were divided into 2 groups. One which attended a class regarding culture, and one group had a Chi Kong teaching-class. Both very interesting.
In the evening we attended Yuanlin club meeting, where we presented Rotary in D1460, our group and our countries.

Monday 09/03/2009

Today we visited the Buddism Tzu Chi Temple, which was an amazing experience. We got a tour around the temple and we got to see how you make tea.
After lunch we went to Peter's company - East Star Shoes Co Ldt, which makes leather shoes.
In the afternoon we went to Tianwei Road Garden, where we rented some four-persons bicykles and drove around in. We saw many different kinnds of orchids and they were so beautiful.
After dinner our new "families" picked us up.

Sunday 08/03/09

Today we went to Lukang, and at noon we went to see the Lukang Mazu temple, where we walked around and then there was a ceremony, with fireworks and dance and much more.
After lunch we went to the old shopping street, and there was a lot of shops, where you could buy everything from food to toys to clothes.
In the afternoon we met all the families at the hostel, where we are going to spend the night, and we had a buffet party. Very nice.

Saturday 07/03/09

First thing this morning we went to Wanggong Wharf, where we walked a little bit, and saw the wharf. Then we drove to a big temple, where we were so lucky. One of the Gods from a temple in Taipei where visiting the temple, and they held a big ceremony with fireworks, music and dance. They only do that once a year, so we where so lucky.
After lunch at a oyster restaurant, we went to Taiwan Folk Village, where you could see how they used to live in Taiwan.
Everyday they show how people got married in the old days, and Heine and Ingrida were so lucky to get "fake-married", with the old traditional clothes and ceremony. Very interesting and a great experience. In the Folk Village, there were also a circus, where Ingrida and Egis were on stage and doing tricks with the performers.
